Texture has always been a fascination and a delight for me. Whether that’s in art, architecture, interiors, food, clothing, jewelry, or the natural world (the ultimate teacher of texture.)
Texture is most compelling when it can be both seen and touched, but in time you can “feel” texture even just with your eyes.
I’ve also always had an affinity and a lifelong conversation with light. Light influences my mood, the places I want to visit, and the spaces I inhabit. And the study, documentation, and manipulation of light is essential to all of my artistic pursuits, my home, and every event I host.
It’s no wonder then that the intersection of my two loves of texture and light surface in my abstract photography. My abstracts find me, they aren’t something that I am consciously seeking out. It’s a form of intuition or sensing…some might liken it to communing with spirits. I sense there is something there, before it actually fully registers in my brain, my heart rate quickens, a feeling of pleasure floods my body. Then I see the image. Then I take a picture. I frequently don’t know what I’ve found or seen until much later.
